One Does Not Simply…Write About Anthropology

My Time as a Graduate Student

Anthro Links

As I go through my Anthropology studies, I am going to add some neat links to other projects, organizations, etc to give individuals a better understanding of what sorts of things the study of Anthropology is involved in. To not only broaden the prospective lens but to educate. There are a lot of amazing projects going on as well as jobs that involved Anthropology that many are not aware of. I will also be posting some things from museum sites as well that I find equally interesting and informative, and I will post organizations that I have done research on and have worked with. It is important in my mind to acknowledge those organizations that are in need of being acknowledged and reaching out to a broader audience. As I stumble across them, I will post them up. ENJOY!

Anthro Organizations:

  • American Anthropological Association -This is the largest association for interested Anthropologists, “to promote the science of anthropology, to stimulate and coordinate the efforts of American anthropologists, to foster local and other societies devoted to anthropology, to serve as a bond among American anthropologists and anthropologic[al] organizations present and prospective, and to publish and encourage the publication of matter pertaining to anthropology” (AAA Articles of Incorporation). This site also provides sources for possible jobs, internships, field schools, and news about projects going on around the world. American Anthropological Association
  • DANG -this is the newly formed digital anthropology group  DANG

Organizations/Groups that I have studied:

  • The Refuge – In a past post I had posted a section of my Religion and Culture Paper about this youth group. Two of my closest friends have poured their hearts into the group to make sure that no youth gets ostracized and is always accepted no matter what. I want to share their website and their calling, in hopes that we can learn and see the good that people are doing for the development of our youth. The Refuge Website

Other just cool Anthro projects:

  • This is Anthropology – This is a cool interactive tool to find anthropologist, what types of projects that are going on, learn more about the discipline of anthropology, and if you are an anthropologist you can share your information. Its really neat. Check it out. This is Anthropology

Other fun things:

  • Pottermore – just a fun interactive way of going through the book series. I also gives some good information on where J.K. came up with some of ideas for the characters. I use some of the background information for my research. Pottermore
